PROBLEM

As of Jan 2016, there are 1,411 stateless people living in Singapore. Without citizenship, they feel isolated and face a constant struggle integrating into the country they wish to call their Home.

S T A T E L E S S

The international legal definition of a stateless person is “a person who is not considered as a national by any State under the operation of its law”

INSIGHT

The Stateless are trapped in a vicious cycle due to the lack of awareness of the issue. This creates uncertainty, in which prevents them from employment.

The misconception that it is illegal to reach out and employ someone without a nationality takes away chances for these stateless people to financially support themselves. In addition, this also puts a toll on them attaining the Singaporean citizenship because they must proof that they can financially support themselves and their dependent.

SOLUTION

Almost Home

A campaign that educates Singaporeans and businesses that recognising, empathising and employing the Stateless will help bring them a step closer to Home.

COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

Empower instead of pity

By conveying logical and emotional argumentative from the stateless’ perspectives we can empower employers and community to take action.

Direct Mailers

To reach out to businesses, direct mailers will be sent to various employers to educate them on the issue.

Booth at Career Fairs

To reach out to hiring managers and employers, we set up booths in careers fairs to spread awareness and educate on the issue.
